Benefits of Yoga

It's reversing the age process- Sting

You have to learn to control your breath, that's the essence of yoga - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

"Usually there's about a three-month love affair with yoga. 'I feel so good.' After about two months of practice, people think they are practically enlightened. Then usually around the third month, something happens and the yoga actually starts to work. And the first thing the ego structure does is to look for an escape route. People start heading for the door just at the moment when they should stay."-Richard Freeman

"The practice itself, done consistently and accurately, is the real teacher."
~ Tim Miller, Yoga Teacher

"Ashtanga yoga has completely changed me. I try to do it every day, and the effect is amazing. It's not just during the hours that I'm practising. It's about how it filters through into the rest of my life. It makes all the other bullshit dissipate. Who I am has emerged, and everything else has gone by the wayside." — Gwyneth Paltrow

Yoga really purifies your organs and your blood. The real lesson yoga brings you is learning to be present- Christy Turlington

"I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself."
~ Aldous Huxley

Benefits of having a regular group & personal practice in yoga.
  • Physical - Hot yoga raises your pulse and dilates surface vessels from the internal organs. Repeated practice decreases blood pressure by enhancing elasticity of arteries, removing toxins from the kidneys, and reducing excessive sympathetic nervous system activity. A combination of lower heart rate and improved oxygenation to the body (both benefits of yoga) results in higher cardiovascular endurance and stamina. During a 90 minutes class, you'll hear your body talk...body talk.

  • Do Ya Think I'm Sexy - Yoga addresses the four main causes of weight issues: thyroid conditions, stress, eating habits, and lack of exercise. Many yoga poses stimulate the thyroid, which is the gland that regulates the metabolism. A steady practice can decrease cortisol production. Cortisol is the hormone that makes the body cling to fat. As your practice deepens so does your awareness of your own body, making you more prone to crave foods that nourish rather than "comfort." With an asana practice you receive whole body benefits while placing no impact on the joints. When these four pieces are in place you regain complete control over your weight. If you've lost weight or gained muscle through your yoga practice...come on, honey, tell me so.

  • Every Breath You Take - The breath control gained from a steady practice provides benefits for the body and mind. Benefits for the body include; improved elasticity of the lungs, detoxification through increased exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen, and amplifies the autoimmune system by increased distribution of energy to the endocrine system. Breath control benefits for your mind include; soothing the nervous system, steadying the mind, improving concentration, calming the emotions, combating depression, and increasing poise and serenity. Through your asana practice breath is synchronized with movement creating tremendous benefits...every move you make.

  • Harder Better Faster Stronger - Yoga will make your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints stronger. Classes include strength building poses, balancing postures, and floor postures. Poses incorporate an element of balance adding another layer of challenge, utilizing smaller muscles for stabilization while simultaneously strengthening the larger muscle groups. The end result is yoga will do it faster...makes us stronger.

  • Bend Me Shape Me - Strength without flexibility creates imbalances in the body. Yoga increases flexibility while promoting strength by simultaneously stretching and strengthening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. A warm body is a flexible body, allowing for a better stretch and avoiding the risk of injury to cold muscles. Taking your practice from cold to hot takes your body from "can't" to..."anyway you want me."

  • Be Here Now - For many, an unexpected benefit from a steady practice is the deepening connection between the mind and body. The union of the two puts the body in harmony allowing a freedom to live and enjoy every moment. Being present in the moment you realize there is...no other place to be.

  • Remedy - Meditation is widely promoted as an excellent method of pain relief. The hot yoga series is a moving meditation that alleviates pain through both meditation and postures that heal the body from the inside out. People with a variety of ailments have reported improvement in their health after incorporating a steady practice into their lives. A daily dose of yoga feels as though well-being and health...come on like a dream.

  • I Like To Move It - Hot yoga encourages healthy circulation through poses that stretch or compress a part of the body which temporarily restricts circulation. With the extension of the posture fresh blood is rushed to the area. Toning the cardiac muscle will make it easy for the heart to...move it, move it.

  • Take It Easy - Chronic stress is known to be a contributor to a variety of health and emotional problems. Yoga's quiet, precise movements draw attention away from the chaos of life and toward calm as the body moves through postures that require balance and concentration. So...lighten up while you still can.

  • Do You Realize - It doesn't matter what your faith is, or even if you have faith, yoga is not a religion. What it is, is a way to become aware of how our emotional, mental, and physical levels are all interconnected. Gradually this practice brings you to a deeper level of inner peace where you can see...that you have the most beautiful face.
