This will explain the various layers of Ashtanga yoga. Where the breath, internal locks, gaze and individual poses are explored. We will move at a slower pace & break down the salutations, standing and selected seated poses from the traditional Yoga Therapy movements and Primary Series.
The classes are also structured around Yoga therapy techniques to help heal the mind and body.
HOT SEQUENCE & YIN YOGA classes are great for beginners too!
This is a class based upon the principles of the traditional Bikram Hot Sequence with no vinyasa, which is great for both beginners or an experienced practitioner.
Seated, strengthening postures and standing postures are held for longer periods of time, again without a vinyasa (flow).
The is class built to help stimulate the production of synovial fluid, which not only lubricates and nourishes the joints, but also activates chondrocytes (the cells found in healthy cartilage) to lay down new cartilage. By engaging our muscles to both pull and push on the bone, yoga surpasses the bone-strengthening benefits by lifting with gravity to define, renew and encourage optimal health in our bodies.
The classroom is heated and poses are modified to help one receive the best benefits for their practice.
This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind and structured around rejuvenating and healing the body.
Yin Yoga is all seated postures, combined with breath work, held at a slower pace and goes beneath the superficial muscles to target the dense connective tissues of the body – often in the hips, pelvis, and low back – which are difficult to open and can result in both limited flexibility and stagnant energy. This deep practice is gentle, yet intense, helping students not only to open the body, but also to cultivate the ability to observe and stay with the sensation. This class is great for all levels of practiceYin Yoga's emphasis is not on a lack of pain, but rather on how to feel discomfort, stay with it and move through it. The breath is very vital for the practice which is taught at a calm pace.
The difficulty lies in the length of time the poses are held without shifting or movement.
Great for stressed, tight areas of the body and wonderful for beginners. Also recommended for recovery class for; Ashtanga yoga practitioners, runners, crossfitters or any athletic trainers.
